3Les Jardins de Marqueyssac
Perched on a cliff overlooking the Dordogne River, Les Jardins de Marqueyssac are among the most picturesque in France. The gardens are best known for their 150,000 hand-pruned boxwood trees, which are sculpted into whimsical, organic shapes that resemble waves or clouds. These gardens have been cultivated since the 17th century, and their unique designs offer a surreal, dreamlike experience.
In addition to the carefully crafted topiaries, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Dordogne Valley, as well as the Château de Marqueyssac. The gardens are especially magical during the evening candlelight tours held in the summer, when thousands of candles illuminate the winding paths.
