10Elliðaey Hunting Lodge (Iceland)

Nestled on the isolated island of Elliðaey, off the southern coast of Iceland, the Elliðaey Hunting Lodge is one of the most famous lonely houses in the world. Built for puffin hunters, the house is the only structure on the island, surrounded by vast expanses of green hills and rugged cliffs.

With no neighbors or shops nearby, it’s the ultimate spot for isolation. Though it appears desolate, the lodge is occasionally used by members of a hunting association, providing a temporary respite from the busyness of mainland life.

Why it’s special: The house’s remote location, surrounded by untouched wilderness, makes it both mysterious and stunning.
