2Chehel Sotoun Garden, Isfahan, Iran
Located in the city of Isfahan, the Chehel Sotoun Garden is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most impressive examples of Persian-Islamic gardens. The garden’s name, meaning “Forty Columns,” refers to the twenty columns of the palace that, when reflected in the pool, appear to double. The symmetrical layout, reflecting pool, and carefully arranged trees and plants are all hallmarks of Islamic garden design. The pavilion at the center of the garden features beautiful frescoes and tilework, blending art and nature in perfect harmony.
