Known as the “painted village” of Chios, Pyrgi stands out for its unique geometric patterns painted on the facades of its buildings. These black and white designs, known as xysta, create a distinctive and captivating atmosphere. Pyrgi is also famous for its medieval tower houses and is located in the Mastichochoria region, where mastic trees are cultivated to produce the island’s renowned mastic resin.
