In the icy waters of the Bering Strait, the Diomede Islands create a fascinating border between Russia and the United States. The larger Big Diomede belongs to Russia, while the smaller Little Diomede is part of Alaska. Separated by just 2.4 miles, these islands are divided by the International Date Line, making them a unique symbol of time and space—one island is technically “tomorrow” compared to the other.
