2Iya Kazurabashi Bridge (Japan)

Deep in Japan’s Iya Valley, the Iya Kazurabashi Bridge is an ancient vine bridge that spans the Iya River. Originally built centuries ago by feudal warriors seeking escape routes, the bridge is constructed from vines woven together and wooden planks. While it has been reinforced with steel cables, the open design and the fact that the bridge sways with the slightest movement make it a terrifying experience. Looking down at the rushing river below through gaps in the planks only adds to the fear.
