1Samothraki – The Island of the Great Gods

Samothraki, in northern Greece, is wild, mysterious, and steeped in mythology. It was home to the Sanctuary of the Great Gods, where ancient initiation rites took place. Today, the ruins remain an evocative site, especially when explored in solitude off-season.

The island is also famed for its natural beauty, with waterfalls, natural pools, and Mount Saos, one of the highest peaks in the Aegean. Few tourists venture here outside July and August, making Samothraki an off-season paradise for hikers, history buffs, and seekers of tranquility.
