8Giverny – Claude Monet’s Garden
Perhaps one of the most famous gardens in the world, Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny is a living masterpiece. Located in Normandy, the garden was the inspiration behind many of Monet’s iconic paintings, including his series of water lilies. Monet was deeply involved in designing the garden himself, which is divided into two main parts: the Clos Normand (flower garden) and the Japanese-inspired water garden.
The Clos Normand is filled with colorful blooms, including roses, tulips, and irises, arranged in whimsical and informal patterns. The water garden, on the other hand, is known for its famous pond, complete with a Japanese bridge, willow trees, and, of course, the water lilies that Monet immortalized in his art. Visiting Giverny feels like stepping into one of Monet’s paintings, with every view bursting with beauty.
