With ongoing armed conflict and widespread poverty, CAR is one of the world’s most dangerous places for women. Sexual violence, including rape and sexual slavery, is commonly used as a weapon of war. Girls are frequently forced into early marriages, and access to education or healthcare is nearly nonexistent in many areas. The lack of functional legal systems means that crimes against women are rarely prosecuted.
