5Krak des Chevaliers – Syria (built 1031 AD)
One of the most iconic Crusader castles, Krak des Chevaliers was originally constructed by the Emir of Aleppo before being expanded by the Knights Hospitaller. The concentric design, defensive walls, and towers reflect the high point of medieval military architecture. Despite centuries of warfare and conflict, the castle remains remarkably well-preserved.
