6Mariana Trench, Pacific Ocean – The Deepest Point on Earth
The Mariana Trench is the deepest part of the world’s oceans, plunging to a depth of about 36,070 feet (10,994 meters) at its lowest point, known as Challenger Deep. Located in the western Pacific Ocean, this trench is a place of extreme pressure and perpetual darkness. The conditions at the bottom are so extreme that very few manned or unmanned submersibles have been able to reach it. Despite the extreme environment, life does exist in the trench, with unique creatures like giant amoebas and snailfish adapted to survive in the crushing pressure. The Mariana Trench remains one of the most mysterious and least explored places on Earth.
