Located in Siberia, Oymyakon holds the title for the coldest inhabited place on Earth. Winter temperatures regularly plunge below -50°C (-58°F), with the record low reaching a staggering -67.7°C (-89.9°F). This remote village is home to around 500 people, who endure the extreme cold by living traditional lifestyles that revolve around reindeer herding and ice fishing.

In Oymyakon, cars must be kept running all day, and the ground is permanently frozen. The frigid conditions make everyday tasks a challenge, yet the resilient people of Oymyakon have adapted to survive in one of the planet’s harshest climates.
