2Cenote Esqueleto (Temple of Doom), Tulum, Mexico
Cenote Esqueleto, also known as the Temple of Doom, is one of the most challenging cenote dive sites in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. This underwater cave system features tight tunnels, low visibility, and complex navigation, making it a hazardous site for divers.
The Temple of Doom gets its name from the dangerous conditions inside the cenote, where divers can easily become disoriented or lost. The cave system also has several sections where the ceiling is very low, requiring divers to be exceptionally skilled in buoyancy control. Exploring this cenote is a high-risk venture that should only be undertaken by experienced cave divers.
