Somalia has long been considered one of the most dangerous countries in the world due to its history of civil war, terrorism, and piracy. The militant group Al-Shabaab controls large parts of the country and regularly carries out attacks on government officials, civilians, and foreign aid workers.

Somalia’s central government is weak, and the lack of effective governance has led to widespread crime and lawlessness. Piracy off the Somali coast remains a threat to international shipping, and kidnapping for ransom is a common occurrence.
