Paro Airport is one of the most challenging airports for pilots, as it is surrounded by 5,500-meter (18,000-foot) peaks of the Himalayas. The approach to this airport involves sharp turns between mountainous terrain and a descent through narrow valleys.

Only a select group of specially trained pilots are authorized to land at Paro, as it requires extreme precision and confidence. Additionally, the airport has only one runway, and weather conditions often include strong winds and turbulence, adding to the difficulty.
