Lake Baikal in Siberia is not only the world’s deepest and oldest freshwater lake, but it is also one of the clearest.

Known as the “Galápagos of Russia,” it supports an extraordinary variety of wildlife, much of which is found nowhere else on Earth. In winter, the lake freezes over, creating stunning ice formations that draw photographers and adventurers alike.
