The ancient city of Petra is a breathtaking archaeological wonder carved into the red sandstone cliffs of southern Jordan. Known as the “Rose City” due to the color of the rock, Petra was the capital of the Nabataean Kingdom in the 4th century BCE.

Its most famous building, the Treasury (Al-Khazneh), is an intricately carved façade that combines elements of Greek, Roman, and Nabataean architecture. Petra’s dramatic setting, with its towering cliffs and narrow canyons, combined with its rich history, make it one of the most beautiful ancient cities in the world.
