2Constantine the Great (306 – 337 AD)

Constantine’s reign is noted for his conversion to Christianity and his role in legalizing and promoting the Christian faith in the Roman Empire.

He unified the empire under his rule, shifting the capital from Rome to Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul), marking the beginning of the Byzantine Empire. Constantine’s Edict of Milan granted religious tolerance, paving the way for Christianity’s ascendancy.
