6Bodiam Castle, East Sussex

Few castles in England capture the romantic image of a medieval fortress as perfectly as Bodiam Castle. Built in 1385 to defend against French invasion, it features an intact moat, round towers, and a striking gatehouse. Though the interior is largely in ruins, the castle’s atmospheric setting provides visitors with a sense of stepping back into the Middle Ages. Photographers, in particular, are drawn to its fairytale-like appearance reflected in the surrounding water.
