7Bamberg

Bamberg is another UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most stunning medieval towns in Bavaria. The town’s Old Town is spread across seven hills, each crowned by a church, giving Bamberg a distinctive skyline. The highlight is the Bamberg Cathedral, which houses the tombs of Emperor Henry II and Pope Clement II. The town’s historic architecture, including the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) perched on an island in the middle of the Regnitz River, creates a fairy-tale setting. Bamberg is also famous for its unique smoked beer, known as Rauchbier, which visitors can sample in one of the town’s traditional beer halls.
