1Faisal Mosque – Islamabad, Pakistan
The Faisal Mosque in Islamabad is a striking blend of modern and traditional Islamic architecture. Designed by Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay and completed in 1986, it was named after King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who financed the project.
Unlike most traditional mosques, Faisal Mosque does not have a dome. Instead, its design resembles a Bedouin tent, with eight sloping triangular roofs converging at the center. The mosque’s four towering minarets add to its unique silhouette. Located at the foot of the Margalla Hills, the mosque is a serene and imposing sight, especially against the backdrop of the mountains.
