The Meteora Monasteries in Greece are a collection of Eastern Orthodox monasteries built atop towering sandstone pillars in central Greece. Dating back to the 14th century, these monasteries were constructed to protect monks from invading forces.

Today, six of the original 24 monasteries remain active, and visitors can reach them by hiking steep paths that offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The combination of natural beauty and architectural ingenuity makes the Meteora Monasteries a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most visually striking monastic complexes in the world.
