Leipzig’s Christmas market dates back to 1458 and features over 250 stalls, making it one of the largest in the country. Set in the city’s main square, the market includes a fairy-tale forest for children, a medieval market, and a stage for live performances.

The centerpiece is a giant Advent calendar, with one window opened each day to reveal a festive surprise. Leipzig’s market is known for its musical atmosphere, as the city is home to the famous St. Thomas Boys Choir.
