10Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt

Arguably the most famous Christmas market in Germany, Nuremberg’s Christkindlesmarkt dates back to the 16th century. Held in the city’s main square, the market is known for its traditional wooden stalls and the iconic figure of the “Christkind,” a young girl chosen each year to open the market with a ceremonial speech. Highlights include handcrafted toys, nutcrackers, and Nuremberg’s signature gingerbread, known as Lebkuchen. The market’s ambiance is elevated by the sound of carolers, the glow of candles, and the warmth of Glühwein (mulled wine).
