2Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland: Nature’s Hexagonal Puzzle

Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Northern Ireland, is a natural rock formation made up of over 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, many of which are hexagonal in shape. Formed by volcanic activity around 60 million years ago, the columns create a stepping-stone path that leads from the cliffs into the sea.
Legend has it that the causeway was built by an Irish giant named Finn McCool to fight a Scottish giant. The geometric perfection of the columns and the wild, rugged beauty of the coastline give Giant’s Causeway a surreal and mythical atmosphere.
