The Parthenon, perched on the Acropolis of Athens, is a quintessential symbol of ancient Greek architecture and democracy. Completed in 438 BCE, this temple was dedicated to Athena, the patron goddess of Athens.

Designed by architects Ictinus and Callicrates, the Parthenon is renowned for its Doric columns and the optical refinements that correct visual distortions. The temple housed a colossal statue of Athena by Phidias and served as a major cultural and religious center.
