1Heavy Layers

It’s tempting to layer up before a flight, especially if you’re heading to a colder destination. However, wearing heavy layers, such as thick sweaters, bulky coats, or multiple layers of clothing, can make you feel confined and uncomfortable in the tight space of an airplane seat. Additionally, once you’ve settled in, you may find the cabin to be warmer than expected, making heavy layers impractical.

Instead, wear light layers that you can easily adjust. A comfortable shirt or lightweight sweater, paired with a jacket you can easily remove and stow, will keep you comfortable as the temperature fluctuates. If you’re heading to a cold climate, pack your bulky winter coat in your carry-on bag or check it in your luggage so that it’s available when you land.
