Strasbourg is known as the “Capital of Christmas” thanks to its long tradition of Christmas markets dating back to the 16th century. The Christkindelsmärik is one of the oldest in Europe, set in the city’s charming old town with half-timbered houses and festive lights.

The towering Christmas tree in Place Kléber is one of the city’s highlights, along with Alsatian treats like pain d’épices (gingerbread) and hot mulled wine.
