3Paphos, Cyprus

Paphos, a city on the southwestern coast of Cyprus, was an important Roman administrative center and is today a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city is famous for its well-preserved Roman mosaics, particularly those in the House of Dionysus, House of Theseus, and House of Aion. These mosaics depict intricate mythological scenes, including the stories of Dionysus, the god of wine, and Theseus, the hero who defeated the Minotaur. The vivid colors and detailed compositions of Paphos’ mosaics make them some of the finest examples of Roman art in the Eastern Mediterranean.
