8North Sentinel Island, India
North Sentinel Island, located in the Bay of Bengal, is home to one of the last uncontacted tribes in the world, the Sentinelese people. The Indian government has declared the island off-limits to protect the tribe from outside diseases and interference. The Sentinelese are known for their hostility toward outsiders, and any attempt to visit the island could be met with violent resistance.
Because of these restrictions, North Sentinel Island can only be seen from a distance or through satellite images on Google Maps. The island’s dense forests and remote beaches are visible, but the Sentinelese themselves remain shrouded in mystery. For many, exploring the island virtually is the closest they’ll ever get to this forbidden and enigmatic place.
