Located in Recife, Brazil, Praia de Boa Viagem is a popular urban beach, but it has a dark side: it is one of the most shark-infested beaches in the world. The beach has recorded a significant number of shark attacks, many of them fatal. The high concentration of sharks, particularly bull sharks, is attributed to the nearby fishing industry and the destruction of the local ecosystem. Swimming here, especially during high tide, is strongly discouraged, as the shallow waters make it easy for sharks to come dangerously close to shore.
