Livraria Lello is often described as a fairytale bookstore, and it’s easy to see why. The neo-Gothic façade and the stunning wooden staircase that spirals up through the center of the store give it an almost magical quality. Opened in 1906, Livraria Lello has inspired countless visitors, including author J.K. Rowling, who frequented the store while living in Porto and reportedly drew inspiration for parts of the Harry Potter series.
