4Prague, Czech Republic

Prague’s fairytale-like Old Town, with its Gothic architecture and cobblestone streets, attracts millions of visitors every year. However, the city’s historic center has become overcrowded and commercialized, losing much of its local character. Streets are often packed with tour groups, souvenir shops have replaced traditional businesses, and locals are being priced out of their homes due to the rise of short-term rentals. In response, Prague has tried to curb the negative effects of overtourism by restricting tourist activities that are particularly disruptive, such as beer bikes and pub crawls, while promoting lesser-known areas to distribute visitors more evenly.
