10Gansbaai, South Africa

Gansbaai, located along South Africa’s southern coast, is often referred to as the “Great White Shark Capital of the World.” The narrow channel between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock, known as Shark Alley, is home to one of the largest populations of great white sharks. Visitors can experience these magnificent predators in their natural habitat through cage diving. The adrenaline rush of coming face-to-face with a great white shark, separated only by steel bars, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Gansbaai offers shark encounters year-round, with peak activity from April to September.
